Minnie M. Grannas, 97, resident of Garvey Manor Nursing Home, Hollidaysburg formerly of Williamsburg, passed away Monday morning at Garvey Manor.
She was born in rural Williamsburg, daughter of the late Howard L. and Lucinda (Zimmerman) Hughes. On August 13, 1940 she married Paul A. Grannas in Kernstown, VA and he preceded her in death on September 20, 1996.
Surviving is a son, Samuel P. (Emily) of Hollidaysburg; a daughter, Janet L. (Robert) Lear of Armagh; 8 grandchildren: Julie (Todd) Bowser, Scott (Tami) Grannas, Jeff (Angela) Grannas, Wade (Jolene) Grannas, Laura (Randy) Rhodes, Joel (Jacinda) Grannas, Lisa (Jim) Porter and Brad (Shannon) Lear; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers: Ralph of Williamsburg and Raymond of New Florence; and friend/caretaker, Dolores Houck.
She was preceded in death by three brothers: William, Melvin and John; and two sisters: Bessie Treese and Lola Hughes.
Minnie was a 1937 graduate of Williamsburg High School and also worked for many years as a housekeeper for the Simpson Family in Williamsburg.
She was a longtime member of Williamsburg United Methodist Church, the King’s Daughters Sunday School Class and also faithfully served with the United Methodist Women. Minnie was also a member of Williamsburg Women’s Civic Club and Order of the Eastern Star, Williamsburg Chapter.
Minnie loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and also enjoyed traveling, shopping and solving word and crossword puzzles.
Friends will be received from 11am until the 1pm funeral service, Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Williamsburg United Methodist Church, Pastor Heather A. Wurst officiating. Interment will be held at Royer Cemetery, rural Williamsburg.
