Mary Jane Hughes

July 14, 1933    June 16, 2017

     Mary Jane Hughes, 83, Williamsburg passed away Friday evening at the Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg after a brief illness.

     She was born in Williamsburg, daughter of the late M. Marie Cadle.  On April 14, 1952 she married Ralph H. Hughes in Winchester, VA. 

     Surviving are her beloved husband of 65 years; 2 sons: Howard L. of rural Williamsburg and Luke S. (Beverly) of Duncansville; a daughter, Mary Ann Over (Ronald) of Williamsburg; 8 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.

     She was the last of her immediate family of 9 children and was also preceded by a son, Ralph D. Hughes; and a great-grandson, Ronald L. Hughes.

      Mary Jane was a 1951 graduate of Williamsburg High School and was a longtime member of Williamsburg United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and served as president of the United Methodist Women.

     She was a member of the former Williamsburg Chapter #538, Order of the Eastern Star, where she served as worthy matron and secretary.  Mary Jane also served as secretary/treasurer for the Williamsburg Burial Association and was the first and longtime manager of W.A.I.D.  She loved spending time with her family, caring for others and also enjoyed reading, especially her Bible.

     Friends will be received from 12:30pm until the 2pm, memorial service, Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg, Pastor Heather A. Wurst officiating.  Private inurnment will be held at Royer Cemetery, rural Williamsburg.

     In lieu of flowers and food gifts the family ask donations in memory of Mary Jane be given to the Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg Benevolence Fund, 220 Newry Street, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
