John Ivan Detwiler, 84, Millerstown, rural Martinsburg, passed away Friday afternoon at The Village at Morrisons Cove, Martinsburg.
He was born at his home in Millerstown, son of the late Harper L. and Erdean R. (Stitt) Detwiler.
Surviving is a sister, Romaine L. Smith of Martinsburg; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Donald; and three sisters: Rue E. Corle, Barbara M. Burket and A. Jane Hoover.
John Ivan was a 1953 graduate of Morrisons Cove High School, Martinsburg and a member of Clover Creek Church of the Brethren, rural Martinsburg. Over the years, he worked at various local jobs including: the Green Giant Cannery, Martinsburg, picking apples for Bridenbaugh Orchards, and mowing grass.
He loved spending time with his family and especially driving and taking care of his mother.
Friends will be received from 1:30 pm until the 3pm funeral service, Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg, Pastor Earl E. Herr officiating. Interment will be held at Diehl’s Crossroads Cemetery, rural Martinsburg.
The family prefers memorial contributions be given to The Village at Morrisons Cove Benevolence Fund, 429 S. Market St., Martinsburg, PA 16662.
