William Henry Baird

William Henry Baird, 72, of East Freedom, formerly of Harrisburg, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday evening, April 7, 2021 at his home.
He was born in East Freedom, son of the late William E. and Jayne M. (Lingenfelter) Baird.
Surviving are two brothers: Michael A. (Carolyn) Baird of East Freedom and Daniel J. (Lori) Baird of Roaring Spring; two sisters: Elaine Baird of East Freedom and Sue Ellen Miller (Dennis) of Altoona; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Rose Ann Baird and Judy Dodson; and a brother, Joseph E. Baird.
Mr. Baird was a 1968 graduate of Central High School and attended ICM School of Business, Pittsburgh for computer programming. He was a U.S. Army combat veteran of the Vietnam War serving from 1968 until 1972 attaining the rank of Specialist 5th Class. Bill retired in 2006 as a computer technologist/software engineer from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Office of Administration with 31 years of service.
Bill was a member of Murray-Appleman American Legion Post 147, V.F.W. Post 7689 both in Roaring Spring, ABC PS Camera Club, and a life member of the N.R.A. He loved photography, collecting coins, shooting sports and was a true gun enthusiast. Bill also enjoyed attending reunions with his Big Bad Bravo Brothers (His Brothers in Arms from Vietnam).
Friends will be received from 2-4pm, Sunday, April 11, 2021 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg. A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 2pm, Monday, April 12, 2021 at Claysburg Union Cemetery.
