Von Victor Bookhammer, 46, of Williamsburg, passed away unexpectedly Friday, October 22, 2021 at his home.
He was born in Altoona, son of Terry R. Bookhammer and Martha A. (McGregor) Leonard.
Surviving are his parents, both of Williamsburg; two children: Madison R. Bem (Fiancé Bailey Price) of Williamsburg and Dakota M. Bem of Roaring Spring; two brothers: Timothy McGregor (Michelle), and Terry Bookhammer (Shawna); two sisters: Ruby Bookhammer (Warren Blades), and Julie Tolbert. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his step-father, Donald M. Leonard.
Von was a 1994 graduate of Williamsburg High School, where he played football and took pride playing for the 1993 undefeated team. He worked at various companies through the years including Seven D’s Industries, Hollidaysburg, Edgemate, Roaring Spring; and Seton Leather Co., Saxton.
Sports and being competitive were a huge part of Von’s life. He was a diehard Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Pirates fan. Von relished in his competitiveness by playing darts, cards, and video games with his children and their friends. His greatest love in life was spending time with his family, kids and his dogs. Von exemplified his love for his children by attending every Lady Pirates basketball game Madison was playing in or attending Dakota’s Central Dragon football games. Von was a man with a heart of gold and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Friends will be received from 5-7pm, Monday, October 25, 2021 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg. A private inurnment will be held at Royer Cemetery, rural Williamsburg.
Memorial contributions in Von’s name may be given to help defray the cost of funeral expenses.
