     Ronald H. Easly, 86, Martinsburg, formerly of Hastings, passed away Friday afternoon, May 27, 2022 at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center, Roaring Spring.

     He was born in Hastings, son of the late Paul K. and Awilda (Cordell) Easly.  On June 21, 1958 he married Catherine L. Kommer in Barnesboro.  She preceded him in death on November 12, 2017, after 59 years of marriage.

     Surviving are three children: Beth Ann Cerrone (husband, John) of Ballston Lake, NY, Cheryl Easly (partner, Damian DeAngelis) of Altoona and Doug Easly (wife, Doreen) of Martinsburg; eight grandchildren; three great–grandchildren; three sisters, Connie McLaurin (husband, Glenn, deceased) of Ft. Myers, FL, Arlene Drzal (husband, Bob) of Salem, OH and Darlene Kinney (husband, Thomas) of Hastings; a brother, Gary Easly (wife, Diane) of Hastings; and many nieces and nephews.

     Ron was a 1953 graduate of Hastings-Elder High School.  He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1958 and served until 1962. Ron was stationed in Germany and served with the 7th Army 50th Infantry Division, attaining the rank of Specialist 4th class.

     He worked alongside his family for many years at both, Easly Furniture and Easly Funeral Home, and retired in 1990. After retiring, Ron moved to Greenville, SC for twelve years and then to Martinsburg, PA, where he spent the past 20 years.

     Ron was currently a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Roaring Spring, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and a former member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Hastings.

     While residing in Greenville, he volunteered as a tour guide for children at the airport and also volunteered at the Greenville Hospital and Convention Bureau.  Ron also served as a Foster Grandparent at the Martinsburg Elementary School, where he was known as Mr. Ron.

     He served as the past president for the Hastings Vol. Fire Company and also Central District Vol. Fireman’s Association.  Ron was also a member of the Cambria County Regional Firefighter’s Association and Firefighter's Association State of Pennsylvania.

    Ron loved working with young people, especially managing and coaching baseball at both the Little League and High School levels. He also enjoyed playing baseball and softball, and on his fast pitch softball team, Ron was nicknamed, Caesar.

     Friends will be received from 10 until 11am, Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Hastings, where a funeral mass will follow at 11am, Father Thaddeus Rettger O.S.B., celebrant.  Interment with military honors will be held at St. Bernard Cemetery, Hastings.

     In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of both Ron and Catherine may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org
