Robert W. Whetstine

August 11, 1949    December 16, 2020

     Robert William Whetstine, 71, rural Martinsburg, formerly of Hollidaysburg, passed away unexpectedly, late Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at his home.

     He was born in Altoona, son of Charles Whetstine and the late Billie Lou (Strayer) Whetstine.  On August 14, 1995 he married Shirley M. (Robley) Fetter in Williamsburg, VA.

     Surviving are his beloved wife of 25 years; his father of Altoona; two daughters: Tracy and Mindy Whetstine; a step-son, Bradley Fetter; three grandchildren: Drey, Zoe and Seth; and a brother, Rick Whetstine of Hollidaysburg.

     Bob was a 1967 graduate of Hollidaysburg Area High School and also received a degree in radio and television broadcasting from a school in Washington D.C.

     He was U.S. Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War, attaining the rank of Private 1st Class.  Bob retired in 2011 from Cardinal Health, Duncansville where he served as a customer service representative and also delivered nuclear medicine to various healthcare facilities for 17 years.  He previously worked as a machinist for Conrail, at both the Hollidaysburg Shops and Juniata Locomotive Shop, Altoona.   

     Bob loved hunting, fishing and collecting baseball cards. He also enjoyed watching Major League Baseball and NFL Football, especially the Pirates and Steelers.

     Due to COVID-19 restrictions a private funeral service will be held at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg, Pastor Brian L. McCall officiating.  Interment will follow at Royer Cemetery, rural Williamsburg.
