Richard J. Liebal Sr.

Richard J. Liebal Sr., 75, Williamsburg, passed away Tuesday morning, January 26, 2021, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown.
He was born in Williamsburg, son of the late Charles J. and Helen Elsie (Domitrovich) Liebal. On July 29, 1967, he married Susan A. Bussard in Williamsburg.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years; a daughter, Lori J. Merritts (Michael) of Williamsburg; two sons: Richard J. Liebal Jr. (Christine) of Roaring Spring, and Charles A. Liebal (Jill) of Hollidaysburg; 13 grandchildren: Sarah, Ryan, Emily, Maggie, Abbie, Katie, Hunter, Colby, Maci, Alexis, Caleb, Gwyneth, and Ada; 4 great-grandchildren: Wyatt, Levi, Sawyer and Aliyah; two sisters: Betty Covino (Al) of Altoona and Judy Clabaugh (Will) of Indiana; and numerous step-siblings and their families.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Sylvia Liebal; and a brother, Robert C. Liebal; and step-sisters and brothers.
Rich was a 1963 graduate of Williamsburg High School and a U.S. Army veteran serving as a tank mechanic from 1963 until 1966 attaining the rank of Specialist 5th class.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Williamsburg. Rich was also a member of the former Williamsburg VFW Memorial Post 6086 and Bonner-Sollenberger American Legion Post 456, Williamsburg, where he served as past commander.
Rich retired as a material handler and fork truck driver in 2008 from Appleton Papers Inc., Roaring Spring with 36 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and watching television.
Friends will be received from 5-7pm, Friday, January 29, 2021 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., where a private funeral service will follow, Mr. David Cadle officiating.
