Richard D. “Rick” Luke

July 25, 1951 ~ October 5, 2023

     Richard D. “Rick” Luke, 72, of Williamsburg, went home to be with his Lord, Thursday morning, October 5, 2023 at UPMC Altoona.

     He was born in Roaring Spring, son of the late Roland E. Sr. and Gladys A. (Lear) Luke.  On June 1, 1977 he married Nancy A. Roush in Altoona.

     Surviving are his beloved wife, Nancy of 46 years; a daughter, Sherrie L. Link (Matt) of Lebanon; a granddaughter, Ciara and two great-grandsons in Wisconsin; a brother, James D. Luke (Arlene) in Tennessee; a sister, Judith Cole (Daryl) of Williamsburg; three sisters-in-law: Harriet Bowser, Darlene Jackson and Susan Blough (Jim); three brothers-in-law: Robert Roush (Peggy), Terry Roush and Tom Gorsuch; and many nieces and nephews.

     He was preceded in death by six sisters: Margie JoAnn Bowser, Dorothy E. Bowser, Mary Alice Grubb, Betty J. Luke, Ruth E. Lykens and Violet M. Blontz; three brothers: Roland E. Luke Jr., Samuel Jack Luke and Charles E. Luke; a sister-in-law, Emily Gorsuch; and a brother-in-law, James “Bill” Lloyd.

     Rick attended Williamsburg High School and was a graduate from the Indiana University Police Academy in 1982.  He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War serving from 1969-1972 attaining the rank of Specialist 5th class and while serving his country completed his G.E.D.

     He worked for 26 years as a car repairman/welder for Conrail, Sam Ray shops in Hollidaysburg and also served as a part time police officer in Williamsburg. Rick was a longtime, faithful member of Grace Pointe Community Church, Williamsburg.

     Rick was a lifetime member of the N.R.A. and a former member of numerous local Sportsmen and Gun Clubs.  He loved spending time with his family, traveling with his wife, Nancy and creating many beautiful oil paintings.  Rick was also an avid outdoorsman, who spent many hours fishing and hunting out west in Wyoming.  He also enjoyed making people laugh and watching western movies and comedy shows.  Rick was a true patriot, who was extremely proud to serve in our military and help to preserve and protect the liberties of our great nation.

     Friends will be received from 5-8pm, Monday, October 9, 2023 at Grace Pointe Community Church, Williamsburg and from 10 until 11am, Tuesday at the church, where a funeral service will begin at 11am, Rev. Josh Kirksey officiating. Interment with full military honors will be held at Shellytown-Fairview Cemetery, rural Williamsburg.  Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg.

     In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in memory of Rick may be given to Grace Pointe Community Church, 815 Yellow Springs Dr., Williamsburg, PA 16693.
