Richard D. Gardner, 62, of Williamsburg, passed away Wednesday morning, October 14, 2020 at AristaCare at Woodland Park, Orbisonia due to complications from COVID-19.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Gordon L. “Cork” and Wilma D. (Lynn) Gardner.
Surviving are a son, Kenny R. Gardner of Hollidaysburg; three grandchildren: Christian Gardner, Nathan Gardner and Aden Conley; two brothers: Gordon L. “Bim” Lynn (Judy) of Canoe Creek and Steven L. Gardner (Patricia) of Hollidaysburg; two sisters: Pamela Sipes (Russ) of Duncansville and Molly Bush (Jim) of Altoona; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a step-son, J.R. Whitsle; a sister, Nancy Estep; and two nephews: Steven L. Gardner Jr. and Zachary Kunsman.
Richard completed his GED while serving in the U.S. Navy where he served as a cook aboard a submarine and various naval ships. He worked at North American Communications, Duncansville for many years and was previously employed at the Cove Shoe Factory in Martinsburg.
He loved spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, camping and also enjoyed going to races at local dirt tracks.
Friends will be received from 6 until 7pm, Thursday, October 22, 2020 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg, where a celebration of life service will follow at 7pm, Pastor Ronald Campbell officiating. Private inurnment will be held at New Canoe Creek Cemetery, rural Hollidaysburg.
