     Richard E. Figurelle, 85, Williamsburg formerly of Newark, DE, passed away Thursday evening, April 2, 2020, at UPMC Altoona following complications from a cardiac event.

     He was born in Williamsburg, son of the late Anthony J. and Carmela M. (Spallone) Figurelle.  On August 3, 1963, he married Carol L. Hileman at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Williamsburg.

     Surviving are his beloved wife of 56 years; a son, Richard E. Jr. (Elise) Figurelle of Wilmington, DE; two daughters: Tena L. (David) McKee of Newark, DE, and Tanya Snyder of East Freedom; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Anthony Jr. (Barbara) Figurelle; two sisters: Regina (Jerry) Seidel and Alfreda Hite.

     He was preceded in death by three sisters: Josephine Twardowski, Gloria Twardowski, and Angela Ellis; and five brothers: Edward, Father Elwood, Eugene, Alfred, and Theodore.

     Rich was a 1953 graduate of Williamsburg High School. He was an U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1954-1957 in Germany and Fort Ord, CA, attaining the rank of Specialist 3rd Class.

     He retired in 1997 from Westvaco Corp., Newark, DE as a finishing superintendent in the Consumer Packaging Division with over 34 years of service.

          Rich was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Williamsburg; The Williamsburg Lions Club, Bonner-Sollenberger American Legion Post 456, Williamsburg, and the former Williamsburg VFW Memorial Post.

     He loved spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren play sports.  Rich also enjoyed woodworking, gardening and traveling.

     Due to the COVID-19 situation, visitation and interment will be private at this time. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.  Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc.
