Ralph H. Hughes

Ralph H. Hughes, 93, of Williamsburg, passed away Wednesday morning, August 25, 2021 at his home.
He was born in Oreminea, rural Williamsburg, son of the late Howard L. and Lucinda (Zimmerman) Hughes. On April 14, 1952 he married Mary Jane Fonner in Winchester, VA. She preceded him in death on June 16, 2017.
Surviving are two sons: Howard L. Hughes of Williamsburg and Luke S. Hughes (Beverly) of Duncansville; a daughter, Mary Ann Over (Ronald) of Williamsburg; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ralph D. Hughes; a great-grandson, Ronald L. Hughes; three sisters: Minnie Grannas, Lola Hughes and Bessie Treese; and four brothers: William, John, Melvin and Raymond.
Ralph was a 1946 graduate of Williamsburg High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1950 until 1952, attaining the rank of Private 1st Class.
He retired as a heavy equipment operator from Grannas Brothers, with close to 40 years of service. Ralph was a 50 plus year member of the Portage Lodge 220 F&AM, Hollidaysburg, where he formerly served as worshipful master. He was also a member of the Williamsburg United Methodist Church and more recently attended the Mines United Methodist Church in rural Williamsburg.
Ralph loved spending time with his family, especially with the love of his life, Mary Jane.
Friends will be received from 12:30 until 2pm, Sunday, August 29, 2021 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg, where a memorial service with military honors will follow at 2pm, Pastor Gordie Trimer officiating. Private inurnment will be held at Royer Cemetery, rural Williamsburg.
