Phyllis I. Keim Obituary

Phyllis I. Keim

March 19, 1935 ~ April 20, 2024

Phyllis I. Keim, 89, of Martinsburg, passed from this earthly life into the arms of Jesus, Saturday morning, April 20, 2024 at Hilltop Health and Rehabilitation Center, Altoona.

She was born in McKee, daughter of the late Jacob H. and Elsie (Nofsker) Freidenbloom.  On June 30, 1955 she married Jon W. Keim at the Martinsburg Memorial Church of the Brethren.

Surviving are her beloved husband, Jon of 68 years: two children: Eric Keim (Candy) and Lisa Smith (Kevin) both of Martinsburg; three grandchildren: C.J. Croumie, Jarred Smith (Daura) and Erica Welsh (Coty); two great-grandchildren: Milo and Saylor Welch; four siblings: Barbara Black, Floyd Freidenbloom, Norma Snyder and Ronald Freidenbloom; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Sally Scaramozzino.

Phyllis was a 1953 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and was a longtime member of Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church.  She was also a member of Martinsburg Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, The Red Hat Society and was instrumental in the creation of Martinsburg Bargain Day (Yard Sale Day).

She and Jon owned and operated Keim’s Custom Interior in Martinsburg for many years.  Phyllis also served as the tax collector and judge of elections for the Martinsburg Borough.

Phyllis loved cooking, baking, hosting holiday dinners for her extended family and also prepared many meals for numerous church and fire hall events.  She enjoyed time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and also working in her garden.  Phyllis was known as a hard worker and certainly earned her heavenly rest.

Friends will be received from 5-8pm, Friday, April 26, 2024 at John K.
