Phillip Eugene George, 80, of Martinsburg, formerly of Altoona, passed away Wednesday morning, August 26, 2020, at The Village at Morrisons Cove, Martinsburg.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Francis and Catherine (Wahl) George.
Surviving are two daughters: Lori Ann Mintzer of Simi Valley, CA, and Leonie K. Anders (Charles) of Altoona; five grandchildren: Tiffany Wunder, Brenton Laughlin, Alyssa Laughlin, Glenn Gabriel, and Garet Corle; eight great-grandchildren: Christian, Gaige and Trinity Fink, Grayson and Olivia Laughlin, and Harrison, Gwendolyn and Liliana Gabriel; and a sister, Joan Weidlich.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Corina Lynn Daugherty.
Phillip was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving for four years aboard various ships throughout the world. He worked for many years as a carpenter, working at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo, Washington DC, and for various local homeowners and businesses throughout Blair County.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 pm, Sunday, August 30, 2020, at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg, where a memorial service will follow at 3 pm.
