Nelson Ralph Clabaugh

Nelson R. Clabaugh, 79, of Hollidaysburg, formerly of Williamsburg, passed away Tuesday afternoon, March 26, 2024 at UPMC Altoona, following a lengthy illness.
He was born in rural Williamsburg, son of the late Paul R. and Bertha B. (Hetrick) Clabaugh. On September 27, 1969 he married Jane E. Hughes at the Williamsburg United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Jane of 54 years; a daughter, Patti A. Bickley (Stephen) of Hollidaysburg; a granddaughter, Alexis J. Bickley; two step-grandsons: Jacob Bickley (Breyhel) and Joshua Bickley; a brother, Willard E. Clabaugh (Judy) of Indiana; and a sister, Mabel K. Johnson of Altoona.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty L. Bookwalter; and a brother, Kenneth L. Clabaugh.
Nelson attended Williamsburg High School and for six years served in the Army National Guard, attaining the rank of Specialist 4th Class. He attended the Williamsburg Alliance Church and was employed as a laborer for 30 years with the Labor Union 910, Johnstown, where Nelson worked with the road and bridge concrete construction crew.
He loved spending time with his family, going to auctions, especially Belleville, and making ketchup, spaghetti sauce and canning corn. Nelson also enjoyed hunting deer, gardening, yard work and working on cars and tractors.
The family would like to give a special thanks to UPMC Hospice and Dr. George Zlupko for helping Nelson with his lung condition for the past 25 years.
Friends will be received from noon until 1pm, Friday, March 29, 2024 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg, where a funeral service will begin at 1pm, Pastor Paul R. Campbell officiating. Private interment will be held at Oreminea Cemetery, rural Williamsburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given to St. Jude Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
