Nancy Viola Ray

Nancy Viola Ray, 84, of rural Williamsburg, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday morning, December 18, 2021 at her residence.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Lewis William and Pearl Viola (Hoffman) Over. On September 17, 1954 she married George William Ray in Altoona. He preceded her in death on August 10, 1993, following 39 years of marriage.
Surviving are four children: Eugene A. (Donna) Ray of Rochester, Mass, Susan L. O’Shea (Michael) of Halifax, VA, Dale W. (Jane) Ray of rural Williamsburg and Brian G. (Patty) Ray of Dunlo; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Joyce Hale and Elaine Johnson both of Altoona; and a brother, James Over of Duncansville.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amanda O’Shea; two great-grandchildren: Judah and Faith Grainger; a sister, Lavada “Lovey” McCallen; and two brothers: Ronald “Skip” and Paul Over.
Nancy was a 1955 graduate of Altoona High School. She was a longtime member of Fairview Church of the Brethren and also a member of Calico Quilters and the Horseshoe Cloggers.
She was primarily a homemaker, who also assisted her husband with the daily operation of their dairy farm. Nancy loved spending time with her family and also enjoyed quilting and clogging.
Friends will be received from 11am until 1pm, Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Fairview Church of the Brethren, rural Williamsburg, where a funeral service will follow at 1pm at the church, Brother Thomas Hanks officiating. Interment will be held at Shellytown-Fairview Cemetery, rural Williamsburg. Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg.
