     Marie C. Smith, 90, resident of Homewood at Martinsburg, formerly of Williamsburg, passed away Saturday morning, July 11, 2020 at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center, Roaring Spring.

     She was born in Baltimore, MD, daughter of the late Frederick R. and Margaret A. (Medinger) Cogswell.  On May 24, 1952, she married Richard G. Smith in Riviera Beach, MD and he preceded her in death on June 29, 2012.

     Surviving are two sons: Stephen W. (wife, Patricia) Smith and Jerome F. Smith; a grandson, Kyle S. Smith; and a sister, Arlene C. (husband, Ted) Page.

     She was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Haegerich; and two brothers: Charles “Buddy” Cogswell and George Cogswell.

     Marie was a graduate of Glen Burnie High School and also a nursing school graduate, where she completed the registered nursing program.

     She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Williamsburg.  Marie worked for many years as a registered nurse and also along with her husband, owned and operated Peterson’s Candy Store in Wilmington, DE.

     She loved gardening, bird watching and traveling.

     A private funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Williamsburg, Father Aron Maghsoudi celebrant.  Private interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.  Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg.

      Memorial contributions in memory of Marie can be given to Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602.
