Kenneth R. Blattenberger

Kenneth R. Blattenberger, 77, Martinsburg, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday morning, August 30, 2020 at his residence.
He was born in Roaring Spring, son of the late Benjamin F. and Florence M. (Keith) Blattenberger. On October 10, 1964 he married Janet E. Teeter at the Woodbury Church of God.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 55 years; many nieces, nephews and cousins that he dearly loved; two sisters-in-law: Lois R. Steward of Roaring Spring and Sally A. Blattenberger of rural Martinsburg; and close friends, Chris and Tracy Ritchey.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James S. Blattenberger; two brothers-in-law, Jesse “Sonny” Steward; and Melvin Clapper; and a sister-in-law, Patty Clapper.
Ken was a 1961 graduate of Central High School, where he was a member of the F.F.A. He along with his wife, Janet owned and operated a dairy farm near Curryville for over 30 years. After retiring from farming, Ken then drove a school van for both Smith Busing and MTS Transportation, with 17 years of service.
He attended Clover Creek Church of the Brethren, rural Martinsburg and was a former member of Woodbury Church of God. Ken was also a member of Ravers Gap Sportsman Association and the Chevrolet Antique Auto Club for over 30 years.
Ken loved spending time with his family, watching high school football, little league baseball and taking care of his 1930 Chevrolet Coupe that he previously owned. He also enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, bowling, watching the Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers and Penguins and playing fast pitch softball, where Ken played for Hershberger & Myers in the Morrisons Cove Fast Pitch League.
Friends will be received from 5-8pm, Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at Clover Creek Church of the Brethren, rural Martinsburg and from 10-11am, Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at the church, where a funeral service will follow at 11am, Pastors Barbara Hammond and Duane Crumrine officiating. Interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg. Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg.
