Jerry A. Dilling

Jerry Allen Dilling, 84, of rural Martinsburg, passed away Monday evening, November 6, 2023, at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center, Roaring Spring, following a brief illness.
He was born in Liberty Township, Bedford County, son of the late Howard A. and Dorothy M. (Fisher) Dilling. On December 23, 1976, he married Lucretia Marie Lamb in Winchester, VA, and she preceded him in death on September 2, 2017, following 40 years of marriage.
Surviving are six daughters: Terri Emmons and Tamara Wagner, both of FL, Laurie Gelwicks of NY, Linda Sell of Roaring Spring, Sherry Dilling of Martinsburg, and Amy Dilling of Philadelphia; two sons: Jamie Hale of CO, and Michael Dilling of Martinsburg; 8 grandchildren: Garrett Long, Elizabeth Fincher, Blair Wagner, Nicole Emmons, Sheena Mickel, Carl Sell, Jacob Reynolds, and Luanna Ryan; 6 great-grandchildren; a sister, Joyce A. Foor (Delmar); and a special friend, Marjorie Brumbaugh of Roaring Spring.
He was preceded in death by a son, Edward Hale; and a brother, Kenneth W. “Punkin” Dilling.
Jerry attended Morrisons Cove High School, Martinsburg and was a U.S. Army veteran. For many years, he owned and operated Jerry Dilling Excavating and was currently working as a truck driver for Penn Turf in Hollidaysburg.
Jerry loved spending time with family and friends, and also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Friends will be received from 10 am to 12 noon on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Clover Creek Church of the Brethren, rural Martinsburg, where a funeral service will begin at 12 noon, Pastors Barbara Hammond and Duane Crumrine officiating. Interment with military honors will be held at Brumbaugh Cemetery, rural Martinsburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the funeral home to defray expenses.
