James S. Leidy

     James S. Leidy, 73, of Baker Summit, Bedford County, went home to be with the Lord, Monday morning, January 11, 2021, at Encompass Health Rehab Hospital of Nittany Valley, Bellefonte.

      He was born at Nason Hospital, Roaring Spring, son of the late, Russell and Elizabeth (Trent) Leidy.  On October 5, 1968 he married Claretta J. Howard at Memorial Baptist Church, Altoona.

     Surviving are his wife, Claretta of 53 years; two sons: J. Brant Leidy of New Enterprise and Kevin L. Leidy (Melissa) of rural Roaring Spring; a daughter, Heather Collins (Ted) of Dripping Springs, TX; three granddaughters: Breanna Leidy, Taylor Leidy and Rain Collins; four sisters: Willa Henry (Ron), Fay Sipes, Linda Metzler (Durban) and Gretchen Metzler (Rodney); and a brother, John Leidy (Pat).

     He was preceded in death by sister, Mary Labee; and a brother, Russell Leidy.

     Jim was a member of Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church.  He was a lifelong farmer and co-owner of L&L Holsteins, along with his son, Kevin. 

     Jim loved his pet beagles, Lily and Daisy and spending time with friends. He also enjoyed hunting, stock car racing and served as the promoter for the Bedford Speedway and promoter/owner for Cove Valley Speedway.

     Due to COVID-19 restrictions a private graveside service will be held for family at Holsinger Cemetery, Bakers Summit, his son, Pastor J. Brant Leidy officiating.   Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg.

     Memorial contributions in memory of Jim can be given to Camp Mantowagan, P.O. Box 95, Saxton, PA 16678.
