James Robert Miller

James Robert Miller, of Martinsburg PA died at his home at the age of 90. He was born in Bedford PA, the son of James H. and Mildred P. (Hite) Miller. On February 21, 1953, he married Lillian “Peg” Diehl of Everett PA.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 69 years; their children: Cheryl Dellasega of Hershey, Carol Waltersdorf (husband, Robert) of Vestal NY, James Miller Jr. (wife, Elizabeth) of Baltimore MD, and Elizabeth Cook (husband, David) of Harrisburg PA; grandchildren: Jason Waltersdorf, Matthew Thorn, Amy Gould, Ellen Dellasega, Joseph Dellasega, Anthony Dress, Katherine Miller, Josephine Dress, Sydney Miller, Seneca Cook, David Cook, and Aurora Cook; great-grandchildren: Krysta Thorn, Blaire Dellasega, Emalynn Thorn, Andrew Gould, Janzel Dellasega, Madelyn Gould, Juno Dellasega, Hannah Waltersdorf, and Evan Waltersdorf; sisters Mary Jane Roberts, Doris McClellan, Alice Mertz (husband, Steven), Joyce Loving, and Mitzie DeMoss; and brothers Joseph Miller (wife, Linda) and Donald Miller (wife, Cindy).
He was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Miller; a son-in-law, Paul Dellasega; a sister, Shirley Miller; and brother-in-laws: Owen Roberts, Fred McClellan, and Gene Loving.
Jim served 4 years in the United States Navy. He graduated from Penn State University and went on to a 33 year career in electronics engineering at General Electric in Johnson City NY. He retired in 1992 and enjoyed years of flower gardening, golf, water volleyball, fishing, jogging, bicycling, and swimming. He was an avid fan of Pittsburgh and Penn State sports teams. Jim was a helping hand to neighbors, friends, and church members in need wherever he lived, also serving his church in innumerable ways.
God gave Jim a special place in his heart for the underprivileged, especially third world children. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Samaritan’s Purse, Love A Child, or International Children’s Fund in honor of Jim.
Friends will be received from 10 - 11 AM on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church followed by a funeral service with military honors at the church, Pastors Brian McCall and Robert Verno officiating. Private interment will be held at Everett Cemetery.
