Helen Mae Sands

Helen Mae Sands, 91, rural Roaring Spring, was called home to be with the Lord, Tuesday evening, October 25, 2022, at Homewood at Martinsburg.
She was born in Paradise, Lancaster County, daughter of the late John H. and Mary (Eby) Ranck. On April 7, 1950, she married Paul M. Sands in Paradise, who preceded her in death on April 25, 2021, following 71 years of marriage.
Surviving are two sons: Kenneth E. Sands of Shippensburg and Carl D. Sands (Jacqueline) of Albuquerque, NM; a daughter, Karen L. Lytle (John) of rural Roaring Spring; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a brother, J. Ray Ranck (Reba) of Paradise.
She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Kathleen Sands; and a sister, Erma R. Kauffman.
Helen helped her husband operate a farm in Coatesville for over 50 years, after retiring, she and Paul moved to rural Roaring Spring. She was a member of Grace Bible Church in Hollidaysburg. Helen was also involved for many years with the Sewing Circle at the Sandy Hill Mennonite Church.
She loved spending time with her grand and great-grandchildren and also enjoyed sewing, quilting and making crafts.
Friends will be received from 10 until 11am, Saturday, November 5, 2022 at Bice Memorial Chapel at Homewood at Martinsburg, 437 Givler Dr. Martinsburg, Pa 16662, where a funeral service will follow at 11am with Pastor Timothy Guyer officiating. Interment and committal service will be held at Dry Hill Cemetery, Woodbury, Pastor Daren Ritchey officiating. Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg.
