Doris L. Shindledecker

Doris L. Shindledecker, 94, a resident of Pennknoll Village, Everett, formerly of Roaring Spring, went home to be with her Lord, Saturday morning, August 27, 2022 at the Village.
She was born in McKee, daughter of the late Harry E. and Helena N. (Nofsker) Shaw. On July 3, 1951 she married Crawford J. Shindledecker in Hagerstown, MD. He preceded her in death on June 22, 1977, following 26 years of marriage.
Surviving are four children: Brenda K. Hoffman of Smethport, Cindy L. Poet (Dennis) of Frankstown, David L. Shindledecker (Genie) of Chambersburg and Wanda A. Furry of rural Roaring Spring; nine grandchildren: John Hoffman (Kate), Penny Cliber (Larry), Jim Poet, Rob Poet (Megan), Heather Gigliotti, Amber Hammond (Rich), Wesley C. Shindledecker, Kristen Myers (Greg) and Joshua Furry (Miranda); 21 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Cletus Shaw of Brooks Mills.
She was preceded in death by grandson, Scott W. Poet; two sons-in-law: John Hoffman and Roger Furry; five brothers: infants Alexander and Allen, Robert, Wayne and Arlo Shaw; and three sisters: Katheryn Dick, Ruth Berkhimer and Loraine Ebling.
Doris went to school in McKee and attended the Albright Church of the Brethren in Roaring Spring for many years.
She loved spending time with her family, bird watching and relaxing on her swing. Doris also enjoyed canning, going to hymn sings and yard sales.
Friends will be received from 10am until noon, Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg, where a funeral service will follow at noon, Pastor Tim Guyer officiating. Interment will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery, Roaring Spring.
Memorial contributions in memory of Doris may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
