Doris R. Bentzel

     Doris R. Bentzel, 93, of Martinsburg, passed away early Monday morning, June 29, 2020 at The Village at Morrisons Cove.

     She was born in Ohio, daughter of the late Howard and Hazel (Burr) Hathaway.  Doris was formerly married to the late Kenneth R. Bentzel.

     Surviving are two daughters: Pamela J. (Kenneth) Oakes and Brenda K. (Randy) Kreider both of rural Martinsburg; three grandchildren: Jennifer (Tim) Dick, Kevin Oakes and Lisa (Mike) Burns; and three great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn Dick, Mackenzie Dick and Nicholas Oakes.

     She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Schofield; and two brothers: Richard and Charles “Chuck” Hathaway.

     Doris was a 1945 graduate of Vernon High School, Burghill, OH, where she participated on the cheerleading squad. She was employed at the Martinsburg Shoe Factory, Loungeray Inc., Hollidaysburg, as a supervisor for Saf-T-Bak, Altoona and was also worked for many years at Leidy’s Home Furnishings in Martinsburg.

     She loved spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and also enjoyed sewing.  Doris was a very kind and generous person, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone.

     A private inurnment will be held at Diehl’s Crossroads Church Cemetery, rural Martinsburg.  Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg.
