     Donna Lee Hoover, 84, of Henrietta, rural Martinsburg, went home to be with her Lord, Sunday morning, September 26, 2021 at The Village at Morrisons Cove, Martinsburg.

     She was born in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late, David Leroy Detwiler and Martha Naomi (Ketner) Detwiler-Smouse.  Donna married the love of her life, Gerald R. “Sonny” Hoover on May 3, 1954. He preceded her in death on October 14, 2014 following 60 years of marriage.

     Surviving are a daughter, Geri R. Bridenbaugh (Dave) of Henrietta; a son, Garrett W. Hoover (Anna Luisa) of Finksburg, MD; five grandchildren: Heather Kindel (Curt), Christian Bridenbaugh (Kim), Cody Bridenbaugh (Sara), Gabriel Hoover and Christopher Hoover; four great-grandchildren: Jessa, Maura, Carson and Carter; a step-brother, Duane Smouse; and a step-sister, Mindy Smouse.

     She was preceded in death by her step-father, Merle B. Smouse; and two sisters: Lenora J. Boor and Sandra K. Baker.

     Donna attended Morrisons Cove High School and was a lifelong, faithful member of Diehl’s Crossroads Church of the Brethren, rural Martinsburg.  She worked for 16 years at Sylvania Tube Products in Altoona.

     She loved spending time with her family, hosting holiday gatherings, and always made time to attend her grand and great-grandchildren events.  Donna also enjoyed traveling with her husband, Sonny, painting, sewing and antiquing.

     A private funeral service and burial will be held at Diehl’s Crossroads Church of the Brethren, rural Martinsburg.  Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg.
