Donald E. Bassler

Donald Edwin Bassler, 69, of Curryville, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday morning, April 11, 2021 at his home.
He was born in Roaring Spring, son of the late James Weldon “Brub” and Mary Irene (Brumbaugh) Bassler. On April 15, 1972, he married Jolene G. Smith at the Curryville Church of the Brethren.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 48 years; two daughters: Donna J. (Greg) Kimmich of Bellefonte and Debbie E. Knee of Curryville; a son, Kevin D. (Janis) Bassler of Fredericksburg; three grandchildren: Alyssa D. Bassler, Zachary E. Kimmich and Ethan S. Kimmich; and two brothers: James H. (Mid) Bassler of rural Martinsburg and Jerre L. Bassler of Hollidaysburg.
Don was a 1969 graduate of Central High School, Martinsburg and also completed the electrician program at Thaddeus Stevens Trade School in Lancaster. He retired as a supervisor from Appleton Papers Inc., Roaring Spring with over 40 years of service and also owned and operated Bassler Electric for many years.
He was a member of Clover Creek Church of the Brethren and Martinsburg Sportsmen’s Association, Inc. Don loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, singing but most of all working and staying busy.
Friends will be received from 5-8pm, Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Clover Creek Church of the Brethren, rural Martinsburg and at the church from 10 until the 11am funeral service, Wednesday, April 14, 2021, Pastor Barbara Hammond and Pastor Duane Crumrine officiating. Interment will follow at Brumbaugh Cemetery, rural Martinsburg.
