Dona Kauffman Kensinger
August 20, 1927 – October 29, 2022
Dona K. Kensinger, 95, of Martinsburg, died Saturday evening, October 29, 2022, at her home.
She was born in Roaring Spring, the daughter of the late Clare S. and Olive (Myers) Kauffman. On December 23, 1950, she married George E. Kensinger at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Roaring Spring. He preceded her in death on July 6, 2017, after 68 years of marriage.
Surviving are a son, George K. Kensinger (April) of Roaring Spring; a daughter, Deidre K. Robison of Manistee, Michigan; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Dona retired after 28 years as a business teacher in the Spring Cove School District.
She was a member of the Martinsburg Memorial Church of the Brethren where she served on many committees and commissions; sang in the church choir; and was a church deacon, organist, and a Sunday school teacher. She was also involved in the Church of the Brethren Education Program and served as Moderator of the Middle PA District Church of the Brethren.
Dona was very active in her community and was a member of the Martinsburg Booster Association, Martinsburg Community Library Board of Trustees, Nason Hospital Board of Directors, Nason Foundation, Nason Hospital Home Nursing Advisory Board, The Village at Morrisons Cove Board of Directors, The Village at Morrisons Cove Auxiliary, and worked as a notary.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at 12 noon at the Memorial Church of the Brethren, Martinsburg, Mr. Eric Martin officiating Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions in memory of Dona be given to the Martinsburg Community Library, 201 S. Walnut St. Martinsburg, PA 16662 or to the Good Samaritan Fund at The Village at Morrisons Cove, 429 S. Market St. Martinsburg, PA 16662.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to all those persons who assisted Dona during the last years of her life including, but not limited to, the care persons from Cove Home Services and from VIP Hospice in Home Services.
