Dean S. Hinish

March 29, 1935     August 25, 2020

 

     Dean S. Hinish, 85, of Martinsburg, passed away, Tuesday afternoon, August 25, 2020, at Homewood at Martinsburg following a lengthy illness.

     He was born in Curryville, son of the late Wilmer E. and Martha R. (Rhodes) Hinish.  On June 7, 1958, he married Mary Lou Keller at St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, Martinsburg.

     Surviving are his beloved wife of 62 years; a daughter, Suzanne L. Good (Don) of Elizabethtown; a son, Stephen D. Hinish of Martinsburg; two grandchildren: Evan W. Good of Lansing, MI, and Laura E. Good of York; and a brother, Joseph A. Hinish of Martinsburg.

     He was preceded in death by two brothers: W. Wayne, and Bernard E. Hinish.

     Dean was a 1954 graduate of Morrisons Cove High School, Martinsburg and also attended Pennsylvania State University. He then served for five years in the U.S. Army Reserve.

     He retired as a concrete finisher in 1995 from New Enterprise Stone & Lime Company with 32 years of service and previously worked as a milk truck driver for Abbotts Dairy, Curryville.

     Dean was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, and an original member of the Pinederosa Hunting Camp in Lycoming County. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting and spending time with his family at their camp. Dean also enjoyed playing baseball and watching Penn State football and basketball.         

     A private graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg, Rev. Traci Marriott Bowman officiating.

     Memorial contributions in memory of Dean can be given to your favorite local charity.
