Darla M. Helsel, 72, of rural Roaring Spring, passed away Saturday morning, April 9, 2022 at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center, Roaring Spring.
She was born in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late John F. and Eva May (Hartman) Helsel. On March 13, 1976 she married David C. Helsel in Bakers Summit.
Surviving are her beloved husband, David of 46 years; a son, Timothy L. Helsel (Stacy) of Claysburg; two grandchildren: Reiley C. Helsel and Emiley C. Helsel; three sisters: Vivian Kensinger of Bakers Summit, Sarah Gonsman (Ronnie) of Hollidaysburg and Pat McCaulley (Kevin) of Bellwood; a brother, Jack Helsel (Mary) of Martinsburg; and 24 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters: Sandy Helsel, Anna Mary Heinrich and Shirley Markle; and two brothers: Ronald E. Helsel Sr. and William C. Helsel.
Darla was a 1969 graduate of Central High School, Martinsburg and a member of Smith Corner Church, East Freedom. She retired from NPC, Claysburg with almost 20 years of service and had previously worked for North American Communication, Duncansville, James Industry (Slinky), Hollidaysburg and Proctor Silex in Tyrone.
Darla loved spending time with her family, doing cross-word puzzles in the newspaper and keeping up with family and friends on Facebook.
Friends will be received from 5-8pm, Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at Smith Corner Church and from 10 until the 11am funeral service, Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at the church, Pastor David McClanahan officiating. Private interment will be held at Holsinger Cemetery, Bakers Summit. Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg.
