Dale W. Hoover

Dale W. Hoover, 78, of rural Martinsburg, passed away Thursday morning, October 15, 2020 at Homewood at Martinsburg following an extended illness.
He was born in Woodbury, son of the late J. Aaron and Anna E. (Rhodes) Hoover. On December 1, 1962 he married Susan L. England at the Martinsburg Memorial Church of the Brethren.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 57 years; two sons: Kenneth A. Hoover (Lori) of Oak Grove, MN and Benjamin W. Hoover (Marsha) of Duncansville; two daughters: Cindy L. Ritchey (Thomas) and Bobbi Jo Glunt (Richard) both of Martinsburg; nine grandchildren: Kamie and Tanner Hoover, Shane Ritchey, Matthew (Alexa) Ritchey, Laura (Logan) Williams, Nicholas and Joshua Glunt, Noah (Ashley) Hoover and Aaron (Maddie) Hoover; a great-granddaughter, Molly Kaye Ritchey; a brother, Roger W. Hoover (Joyce) of Duncansville; two sisters-in-law: Grace Hoover of Martinsburg and Elaine Hoover in Maryland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Donald G. and Richard L. Hoover.
Dale was a 1960 graduate of Morrisons Cove High School, Martinsburg and a member of Clover Creek Church of the Brethren, rural Martinsburg.
He owned and operated Hi-De-Ho Dairy Farm in Martinsburg from 1963 until he sold his dairy herd in 1990. Dale also worked for Mid-State Bank and Trust, Keystone Financial and M&T Bank, Martinsburg, in the maintenance department, until his retirement.
During his years of farming, he won numerous awards for his herd and their production ratings. Dale also raised and sold 28 bulls on their farm with outstanding breeding records.
Dale was a longtime member of the Jaffa Shrine Center, Altoona, where he served with the Jaffa Shrine Clowns and was known as “Jingles”. He loved spending time with his family, square dancing, camping and also enjoyed traveling, especially going to the beach.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions there will be no public services. Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg.
