Charles F. “Chuck” Mosey

Charles F. “Chuck” Mosey, 87, a resident of Homewood at Martinsburg, formerly of Altoona (Greenwood), passed away Saturday morning, November 27, 2021 at Homewood.
He was born in Antis Township, Blair County, son of the late Frank and Marcella (Pfefferl) Mosey.
Surviving are a nephew, James Steele; and many grand nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Steele; and a nephew, Frank Steele.
Chuck was a 1952 graduate of Altoona High School. He later earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from the Lock Haven University and did past graduate work at Penn State, Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Shippensburg University.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving from 1955 until 1959. Chuck served with both the office of the Naval Aide to the President of the United States and the Atomic Energy Commission in Los Alamos, NM.
Chuck taught at various elementary schools in Altoona, until retiring in June of 1992. He was a member of Altoona Area, Penn State and National Education Associations; and a life member of Blair County Association and Pennsylvania Associations of School Retirees.
He enjoyed biking, hiking and gardening.
Friends will be received from 10-11am, Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg, where a funeral service with military honors will follow at 11am, Father Allen P. Zeth celebrant. Private interment will be held at St. Mary’s Church Cemetery, Altoona. The family requests that all visitors please wear a mask and follow CDC COVID-19 safety guidelines.
