C. Ronald “Ronnie” Smith

November 15, 1937     September 3, 2020

 

     C. Ronald “Ronnie” Smith, 82, rural Martinsburg, passed away Thursday afternoon, September 3, 2020, at UPMC Altoona.

     He was born in Smith Corner, son of the late Roy A. and Beatrice M. (Dodson) Smith.   On December 13, 1958, he married Annabelle Walter at the Queen Methodist Church.

     Surviving are his beloved wife of 61 years; two sons: Brian A. (Sharon) of Chesterfield, VA and Keith M. (Penny) Smith of Frosty Hollow; six grandchildren: Sheena (Jeremy) Ritchey, Kayla (Kyle) Steele, Jaylee (Logan) Fluke, Dalton Smith, Zachary (Jessica) Smith and Jesse Smith; four great-grandchildren: Austin Ritchey, Aden Ritchey, Livie Steele and Bryer Steele; a sister, Carol Greico of Duncansville; two brothers: Gerald E. (Bette) Smith of Duncansville and Chester R. Smith in Virginia; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn L. Smith of Hollidaysburg.

     He was preceded in death by a brother, James R. Smith.

     Ronnie was a 1955 graduate of Roaring Spring High School and a member of the Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church.  He retired as a Quality Control Inspector for Veeder-Root, Duncansville with over 30 years of service.  Ronnie previously was employed for the Baltimore Life Insurance Company, Altoona and Martinsburg Shoe Factory.

     He was a proud member of the NRA and loved spending time with his family, especially his grand and great-grandchildren.  Ronnie also enjoyed hunting and working at both his job and around his home, where he earned his "Working Man's Ph.D.".

     A private funeral service will be held at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg, Pastor James S. Laird Sr. officiating.  Private interment will be held at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery, Altoona.
