Betty F. Stern

Betty F. Stern, 94, Martinsburg, went to join her Lord and Savior Tuesday evening, April 19, 2022, at her home.
She was born in Cessna, daughter of the late Humphrey and Mary E. (Walter) Heltzel. On November 23, 1946, she married Paul H. Stern in Cumberland, MD.
Surviving are her beloved husband of 75 years; a daughter, Donna J. Bolesta (Ron) of Downingtown; two sons: Gary L. Stern (Anne) and Eddie J. Stern (Lorraine), both of Martinsburg; 17 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two children: infant son, Wayne and infant daughter, Deborah; and four siblings: Margie M. Heltzel, Richard E. Heltzel, Mary Jane Hoover, and Dorothy E. Showalter.
Betty was a graduate of Morrison Cove High School. She was primarily a homemaker, that raised her family and assisted her husband, on the family dairy farm. Betty also worked as a cook for the Spring Cove School District.
She had a passion and interest for genealogy and over the years built and maintained a significant library of family history. Betty enjoyed spending time with her family and also found joy in flower and vegetable gardening around their home.
Betty was a faithful, active member of the Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church, where she taught Sunday School and volunteered in the nursery, where Betty loved rocking the babies.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 pm, Friday, April 22, 2022 at Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church and from 10 until the 11 am funeral service, Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the church with Pastor Brian L. McCall, Pastor J. Brant Leidy, and Mr. Daniel Horton, officiating. Private interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
Memorial contributions in memory of Betty may be given to Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church - (Camp Mantowagan), 300 S. Mulberry St., Martinsburg, PA 16662.
