B. Esther Zook

March 16, 1929 ~ September 10, 2023

     B. Esther Zook, 94, passed away Sunday evening, at the The Village at Morrisons Cove in Martinsburg.

     She was born in Salemville, daughter of the late John C. and Nettie F. (Kagarise) Boyd.  On October 17, 1952 she married Lloyd C. Zook at the Martinsburg Memorial Church of the Brethren.  He preceded her in death on April 24, 2016 following 63 years of marriage.

     Surviving are a son, Calvin L. and wife, Barb of Martinsburg; a grandson, Scott L. and wife, Wendy of New Market, MD; and two grandchildren: Zachary and Addison.

      Esther was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Deborah J. Zook; five brothers: Jerome, Alfred, Raymond, Orlo and Paul Boyd; and two sisters: Belle Staples and Pauline Yoder.

      She was a 1947 graduate of Replogle High School, New Enterprise.

      Esther was a primarily a homemaker, who enjoyed cooking, baking and for many years, bowling on Wednesday mornings.  She also loved gospel music, playing the piano and singing in the church choir at Memorial with her husband, Lloyd. Although, Esther’s greatest joy was spending time with her grandson, Scott, while he was growing up.

     A celebration of life service will be held at 10am, Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Martinsburg Memorial Church of the Brethren, Mr. Eric Martin officiating.  Private inurnment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.  Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg.

     In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in memory of Esther may be given to Memorial Church of the Brethren, 210 N. Wall St., Martinsburg, PA 16662 or The Village at Morrisons Cove (Good Samaritan Fund), 429 S. Market St., Martinsburg, PA 16662.
