Audrey M. Aungst

     Audrey M. Aungst, 91, of Martinsburg, went home to be with her Lord, early Friday morning, October 27, 2023 at her home.

     She was born in Martinsburg, daughter of the late, D. Irvin and Nellie P. (Russell) Kreider.  On January 12, 1951 she married Wilfred E “Bill” Aungst in Winchester, VA. 

     Surviving are her beloved husband, Bill of 72 years; five children: Deborah K. Detwiler of Martinsburg, Rick C. Aungst (Sue) of New Enterprise, Kathie L. Rodland (Max) of Woodbury, Patricia L. Heltzel (Allen) of Martinsburg and Kellie E. Aungst (Jennifer) of Bakers Summit; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers: William D. Kreider (Marty) of Martinsburg and Randy L. “B.J.” Kreider (Brenda) of rural Martinsburg.

     Audrey was preceded in death by a grandson, Mark Allen Detwiler; a son-in-law, Allen L. Detwiler; and two brothers: Charles I. Kreider and Glenn R. “Fat” Kreider.

     She was a 1950 graduate of Morrisons Cove High School, Martinsburg.  After graduating, Audrey was employed for a few years at Sylvania in Altoona and years later worked in the cafeteria at the Central High School, Martinsburg.

     Audrey was longtime, faithful member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Martinsburg, where she served in various capacities.

     She loved spending time with her family and in her younger days, roller skating, dancing and bowling.  Audrey also enjoyed singing with the Cafe Five, playing cards and baking pies and cookies.

     The family would like to give a special thanks to her care giver, Elaine Dick and to the wonderful folks at Gentiva Hospice, especially Jen, Michelle, Angel, Stacey, Denise and Tim.

     Friends will be received from 4-7pm, Monday, October 30, 2023 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg and from 10 until 11am, Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at St. John’s United Church of Christ, Martinsburg, where a funeral service will begin at 11am, Pastor Betty Royer and Pastor Tim Guyer officiating.  Private interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
