Willard Clinton Gunnett

Willard Clinton Gunnett, 94, Homewood at Martinsburg, formerly of Clappertown, rural Williamsburg, went home to be with his Lord, Sunday afternoon, February 3, 2019 at the home.
He was born in Royer, rural Williamsburg son of the late Neff Earl and Edith Bell (Vanderpool) Gunnett. On August 10, 1946 he married Laura Grace Ross in Williamsburg. She preceded him in death on December 22, 2015 after 69 years of marriage.
Surviving are two sons: Ronald E. (Jean) of rural Williamsburg and John W. (Nan) of Hummelstown; two daughters: Sharon R. (Wayne) Snare of Roaring Spring and Judith D. (Bill) Greene of Punxsutawney; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Lois J. Dempsie of Hollidaysburg; and a brother, Edwin N. Gunnett of Altoona.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Gunnett; five sisters: Doris Ann and Rita Gunnett, Erma Banks, Hazel Smith and Shirley Deter; and four brothers: Harold, Marion, Arch and Hubert Gunnett.
Willard was a 1941 graduate of Morrisons Cove High School, Martinsburg. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of WWII, serving as a radio operator and supply man in New Guinea and Manila. After serving his country he began his work career at the Williamsburg Power Plant. He then transferred to the Homer City Power Plant where he was employed as a central control room operator, retiring in 1986 after 40 years of total service.
He was longtime member of Clappertown CMA Church, where he served as a church elder. Willard was an avid sports fan, who loved to travel with his wife in their RV, hunting, trout fishing and golfing. He also enjoyed bowling, reading and tending to his flower garden.
Friends will be received from 10am until the noon funeral service, Friday, February 8, 2019 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg, Pastor Edward Jelliff officiating. Interment with full military honors will be held at Royer Cemetery, rural Williamsburg.
