Ruth H. Morelli

Ruth H. Morelli, 86, resident of William Penn Care Center, Jeannette, formerly of Williamsburg, passed away Wednesday afternoon, December 4, 2019, at the Care Center.
She was born in Elizabeth, NJ, daughter of the late Eugene and Sophia (Schauble) Hofmeister. On June 1, 1957, she married Dr. Marion A. Morelli in Elizabeth, NJ, and he preceded her in death on January 13, 1989.
Surviving are a daughter, Marianne R. (Fred) Nicholas of Irwin; three sons: Eugene A. (Susan) Morelli of Williamsburg, VA, Michael J. Morelli or Yorktown, VA, and Mark M. (Andrea) Morelli of Harrisburg; 10 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris H. Schieppe of Warren, NJ; and many nieces and nephews.
Ruth was a 1950 graduate of Roselle Park High School, and in 1953 earned a Registered Nursing degree from Jersey City Nursing School.
She was employed as an operating room nurse at Mercy Hospital, Altoona for 15 years, also worked for 5 years at Cove Forge Behavioral Health Center in Williamsburg and at the Morrisons Cove Home, Martinsburg.
Ruth was very active in the Williamsburg community, serving on the Williamsburg school board as a treasurer and representative to the Altoona Vocational School with a total of 30 years on the board. Ruth was a member of the Garden Club, Civic Club, volunteered at the library and was a Girl Scout Leader for 12 years.
Her husband, Dr. Morelli served as a physician in Williamsburg from 1954 until his passing, together they dedicated their lives to bettering their home community.
She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and also enjoyed traveling, camping, gardening, antiquing and listening to German music.
Friends will be received from 1-5pm, Sunday, December 8, 2019 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg, where a vigil for the deceased will be recited. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11am, Monday, December 9, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Williamsburg, Father Aron M. Maghsoudi celebrant. Interment will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, rural Williamsburg.
