Richard H. Dibert, 79, of Palm Harbor, Florida, formerly of Williamsburg passed away Wednesday, October 3rd, 2018 in Largo, FL.
He was born in Woodbury, son of the late Dr. Lawrence W. and Ruth (Baker) Dibert. Surviving are: his wife of over 30 years, Mel Williams-Dibert of Palm Harbor, Florida; two sisters: Jane Dibert and Janice Mardis, both of Williamsburg; his children Tom Dibert of St. Augustine, Florida, Don Dibert of Palm Harbor, Florida and Laura Dean of Gibsonville, North Carolina.
He is also survived by six grandchildren: Kate Dibert, Stephanie Dibert, Don Dibert, Mark Dean, Jacob Dibert, and Sydney Dean. He was preceded in death by his faithful companion, Patches.
Richard graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1957, and then graduated from Penn State University. After several years teaching math and coaching basketball in the Pittsburgh area, he returned to Penn State to get his Masters Degree in Computer Science.
Richard worked for IBM for over 40 years in State College, Pittsburgh, New York, North Carolina, and finally in Florida where he retired in 2006. He then served as a volunteer for the East Lake Library Board of directors, and the East Lake Fire Department as President of the Pension Fund.
Richard loved the beach and ocean. He spent a great deal of time in his youth in Ocean City, New Jersey working and playing basketball for several summers. After moving to Florida, he spent many weeks over the next 30 years at Crescent Beach near Saint Augustine, Florida.
Friends will be received from 6-8pm, Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg and from 10am until 11am funeral service, Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at the funeral home. Following the service lunch will be served at the Williamsburg United Methodist Church across the street. A private interment will be held at Dry Hill Cemetery, Woodbury, Pa.
