Ralph R. Sheffy

January 18, 1942      October 15, 2018

 

          Ralph Raymond Sheffy, 76, Martinsburg, passed away Monday afternoon, October 15, 2018, at UPMC Altoona.

          He was born in Lebanon, son of the late Ralph E. and Mary Elizabeth “Betty” (Feeser) Sheffy.  He was previously married to Laurin J. Stiffler of Duncansville.

          He is survived by two sons: Stephen (wife, Beth), and Michael both of Fredericksburg; a daughter, Tammi Hopkins of Fredericksburg, VA; three grandchildren: Brooke, Dylan and Brandon; a brother, Forrest K. Sheffy (Ceil) of Mount Joy, PA; and a niece, Gillian Sheffy of NY.

          Ralph was a 1959 graduate of Annville-Cleona High School and a U.S. Navy veteran serving from 1959 -1963. He was employed as a police officer for the State Liquor Control Board and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and also served on the Martinsburg and North Woodbury Police Departments.  In addition, Ralph worked as an auctioneer, serving the cove area for 21 years.

          He was a member of the Morrisons Cove Ray-Camp VFW Post 7689, Roaring Spring, as well as the American Legion Post 0559 in Annville, PA.

          Ralph enjoyed fishing - especially at Raystown Lake, hunting, gardening, and was an avid pet owner who loved dogs and cats.

          Friends will be received from 5 pm until the 7pm funeral service, Monday, October 22, 2018, at the John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg, Pastor Chris Garretson officiating.  Interment with full military honors will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.

           Memorial contributions in memory of Ralph can be given to Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602.
