Pastor Roy E. Kifer

Pastor Roy E. “Sonny” Kifer, 77, rural Williamsburg, went home to be with the Lord late Tuesday at Maybrook Hills, Altoona following an extended illness.
He was born in Oreminea, rural Williamsburg, son of the late Roy A. and Emma I. (Brantner) Kifer. On December 2, 1961 he married Betty C. Bilka in Williamsburg.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 56 years; three sons: Roy S. (Tina) of Sunbury, Thomas S. (Judy) of Altoona and Robert W. of Williamsburg; a daughter, Melissa A. Kifer of Williamsburg; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Charlotte Flaig, Lois Imler and Carolyn Janie (Robert) Smith all of Williamsburg.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Mary Wike and Eleanor Ross; and two brothers: Barry L. and Ronald E.
Roy was a 1958 graduate of Williamsburg High School and a U.S. Army veteran serving from 1958-61, where he spent time in Germany.
He retired as an appliance serviceman from Sears Roebuck, Altoona with 35 years of service. Pastor Kifer served for many years as the minister for Lake Union Evangelical Methodist Church in South Fork and the Williamsburg Full Gospel Tabernacle. He and his wife, Betty also served the Lord for 10 years doing ministry at the Blair County Prison.
Pastor Kifer enjoyed delivering meals on wheels with his wife, spending time with his family and hunting with his eldest son, Roy.
Friends will be received from 5-8pm, Friday, February 2, 2018 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg and from 10 am until the 11 am, funeral service, Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Williamsburg Full Gospel Tabernacle. Pastor William E. Brantner, Pastor Roy S. Kifer and Pastor Thomas S. Kifer will officiate and military honors will be accorded at the church by the Blair County Veteran’s Honor Guard. Private interment will be held at Oreminea Cemetery, rural Williamsburg.
