P. Joyce (Dick) Frye

     P. Joyce Frye, 85, Williamsburg, passed away late Sunday at her home following an extended illness. 

     She was born in Beavertown, rural Martinsburg, daughter of the late John W. and Verna A. (Acker) Dick.  Joyce was twice married, on April 28, 1951 at Salem Reformed Church, rural Martinsburg she married Robert G. Bishop, who passed away fighting for our country in Korea on November 4, 1951. Then on May 16, 1953, Joyce married Wilmer R. Frye in Winchester, VA and he preceded her in death on September 9, 2016.

     Surviving are 2 daughters: Lou Ann Grove (Stanley) and Sherry (friend, "what's his name"); 2 sons: Jack (Mindy) and Randy (Cindy) all of Williamsburg; 9 grandchildren: Trina Abla, Trisha Myers, Kara, Allen, Brody and Jeremy Frye, Ashley Greslick, Amyjo White and Arianne Waddington; 19 great-grandchildren; and a brother, C. Sherman (Janet) of rural Martinsburg.

     She was preceded in death by a sister, M. Janice Fortenbaugh and a brother, Thomas L.

     Joyce was a 1950 graduate of Morrisons Cove High School, Martinsburg and was a member of Williamsburg United Methodist Church.

     She retired in 1985 from the accounting department for Westvaco, Williamsburg after 21 years of service.  Joyce was a member of the Hollidaysburg Chapter 471 of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member and past matron of the former Williamsburg Chapter.  She also was a member of the Bonner Sollenberger American Legion Post 456 Ladies Auxiliary and was a life member of the Williamsburg V.F.W. Memorial Post 6086 Ladies Auxiliary.

     Joyce enjoyed traveling, morning breakfast socializing, spending time at the family campground, being outdoors but her greatest love was her family.

     Friends will be received from 2-4pm and 6-8pm, Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Williamsburg United Methodist Church where an Eastern Star service will be held. A funeral service will be celebrated at 11am, Friday, July 7, 2017 at the church, Pastor Heather A. Wurst officiating.  Interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.  Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg.

     The family prefers memorial contributions in Joyce’s memory be given to the local charity of your choice.
