Kenneth E. “Gene” Wyerman

Kenneth Eugene “Gene” Wyerman, 87, Short Mountain, rural Williamsburg, passed away Monday morning, December 3, 2018, at his home.
He was born in Duncansville, a son of the late Paul Wyerman and Helen (Weaver) Wyerman-Dibert. On February 2, 1954, he married Frances R. Sottile in Winchester, VA.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 64 years; a daughter, Gina E. Williams (David) of rural Williamsburg; two grandchildren: Lorie L. Nicewonger and Cory A. Williams, both of rural Williamsburg; 2 great-grandsons: Garrett and Cole Nicewonger; a sister-in-law, Joann M. Lang (William) of Moncks Corner, SC; two nieces, Kelly Clouser (Chris) and Jennie Breslin (Mike) both of Williamsburg ; a nephew, Louis Lang (Autumn) of Mechanicsburg; and numerous step-sisters and brothers.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mona Claycombe; special grandson, Shawn Nicewonger; a step-sister, Mary Ann Dibert; and a stepbrother, Barry Dibert.
Gene was a US Army veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1948 until 1952, attaining the rank of Corporal.
He was employed for many years at his family’s restaurant, Louie’s Coral Lounge, on top of Short Mountain, where he served in various capacities. Gene also worked as a rural mail carrier in the Williamsburg area for over 20 years.
Gene was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Williamsburg, Standing Stone County Club, Huntingdon, a lifetime member of Bonner-Sollenberger American Legion Post 456, Williamsburg, and a former member of the Heidelburg Country Club, Altoona.
He enjoyed hunting, golfing, and playing pinochle.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 pm, Thursday, December 6, 2018, at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg, where a vigil for the deceased will be recited. A funeral mass will be held at 11 am, Friday, December 7, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Williamsburg, Father Stephen Honeygosky officiating. Interment with military honors will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, rural Williamsburg.
