John R. Saylor

John R. Saylor, 89, rural Williamsburg, passed away Monday afternoon, August 6, 2018 at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Williamsburg, son of the late Christian R. and Alice Rebecca (Stewart) Saylor. On December 22, 1953 he married Ida M. Shultz at Zion Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. She preceded him in death on February 16, 2001.
Surviving are two daughters: Norma J. Grove (Wayne) and Nancy J. Becker (James) both of rural Williamsburg; two grandchildren: Ashley and James Becker; two step-grandchildren: Kenneth Grove and Brenda Crouch; six step-great-grandchildren; three step-great-great grandchildren; a brother, Clarence R. of Medford, NJ; and a sister, A. Geraldine Grove of Martinsburg.
John was preceded in death by four brothers: Marion L. “Pete”, Samuel C., Clair F. “Chip” and James V.; and two sisters: Frances C. England and Clara R. Grove.
He was a 1946 graduate of Williamsburg High School and a longtime member of the former Yellow Springs Lutheran Church, rural Williamsburg. John was also a lifelong member of the Blair County Farm Bureau.
John loved spending time with his family and also enjoyed reading, hunting and his Allis-Chalmers tractors. He was a lifelong dairy farmer in Williamsburg, who truly loved farming and all the animals on his farm.
Friends will be received from 5-8pm, Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg and from 10am until the 11am funeral service, Thursday, August 9, 2018 at the funeral home, Pastors Betty Royer and Elizabeth Hess officiating. Interment will be held at Yellow Springs Lutheran Cemetery, rural Williamsburg.
