Janet L. Wright, 85, of Martinsburg, passed away Wednesday afternoon, December 12, 2018, at Homewood at Martinsburg.
She was born in Saxton, daughter of the late Earl W. and Ethel Marie (Smith) Hinish. On September 11, 1952, she married Thomas R. Hoover in Saxton, and he preceded her in death on September 9, 1989. On August 8, 1992, she then married Ithel “Ike” Wright in Martinsburg.
Surviving are her beloved husband of 26 years; two daughters: Debra A. Gochnour (Nevan) of Martinsburg and Susan E. Oliver of Carlisle; three sons: Randy T. Hoover (Carole) of State College, Donald R. Hoover of Washington, DC and Bruce E. Hoover (Ginger) of Muncy; two step-children: Daniel Wright (Kelly) of Columbia, SC and Julie Noem (Neil) of Leesburg, VA; 8 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Joan Wineland, Freda Buchanan and Sara Moffet.
She was preceded in death by two brothers: John E. and Ray W. Hinish.
Janet was a 1951 graduate of Saxton-Liberty High School. She was a member of Memorial Church of the Brethren where she sang in the church choir, served as a deaconess, served on the altar flower committee, and was a member of the Homebuilders Sunday school class. Janet also created the banners which were displayed for Sunday services at the front of the sanctuary.
She loved spending time with her family and also enjoyed oil painting, gardening, sewing, golfing and volunteering at the Nason Hospital Gift Shop, Roaring Spring.
Friends will be received from 2 until 4 pm, Sunday, December 16, 2018, at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg, and from 10 until the 11 am service, Monday, December 17, 2018, at Memorial Church of the Brethren, Martinsburg, Pastor Chris Garretson officiating. Interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
