James F. Becker

James F. Becker, 60, of rural Williamsburg, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday evening, April 7, 2019 at his home.
He was born in Coatesville, son of the late Joseph A. Sr. and Audene L. (Robinson) Becker. On July 17, 1982 he married Nancy J. Saylor at Yellow Springs Lutheran Church, rural Williamsburg.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 36 years; a daughter, Ashley J. Becker; a son, James R. Becker both of rural Williamsburg; four sisters: Sandi (David) Hogge and Pamela (Wayne) Steinfieldt both of West Palm Beach, FL, Mary (Mark) Carter of Marshville, NC and Robin (Dennis) Vandevander of rural Tyrone; and two brothers: Joseph A. Jr. of Black Forest, Germany and A. Samuel (“Sis”) of Williamsburg.
Jim was a 1978 graduate of Williamsburg High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving active duty from 1978 until 1982 and then two years in the Army Reserves, attaining the rank of Specialist 4th Class.
After serving his country, Jim began working at Edgemate Inc. in Roaring Spring, where he worked for four years. He then decided to join his father-in-law on their family farm in rural Williamsburg, where he worked for the next eight years. Jim then returned to Edgemate Inc., working for an additional 23 years, before needing to retire because of health reasons.
He loved spending time with his family and also enjoyed hiking, hunting, fishing, reading, gardening, canning and cutting firewood.
Friends will be received from 5-8pm, Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg and from 10 until the 11am funeral service, Thursday, April 11, 2019 at the funeral home, Pastor Elizabeth Hess officiating.
