Dewey M. White

Dewey M. White, 88, of Williamsburg, passed away Sunday afternoon, July 8, 2018 at Westminster Woods at Huntingdon.
He was born in Williamsburg, son of the late Carl R. and Laura Mae (Detwiler) White.
Surviving are four sons: Jeffrey (wife, Dorothy) of New Cumberland, David of Sarasota, FL, James of Charleston, SC and Michael of Harrisburg; four grandchildren: J.T. White and Joshua, Ashley and Douglas Verbonitz; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Lois White of Williamsburg and Barbara Simon of Carlisle.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Verbonitz; and a brother, Carl R. Jr.
Dewey was a 1947 graduate of Williamsburg High School and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
He retired from Mead, Alexandria and was also employed for many years at Westvaco Pulp and Paper Mill, Williamsburg.
Dewey was a member of the Bonner Sollenberger American Legion Post 456, Williamsburg and a former member of the Seven Falls Anglers Club, rural Williamsburg. He loved Williamsburg history, was an avid reader and also enjoyed fishing, tying flies, watching Williamsburg athletic events and spending time on Rails to Trails.
Friends will be received from 1pm until the 2 pm, memorial service with military honors, Friday, July 13, 2018 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg, Mr. David Cadle officiating. Private inurnment will be held at Shellytown Fairview Cemetery, rural Williamsburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Dewey may be given to the Williamsburg Public Library, 511 W. Second St., Williamsburg, PA 16693.
