     Betty J. Kaurudar, 94, Martinsburg, passed away Friday morning, October 25, 2019 at Homewood at Martinsburg, where she resided for the past 17 years.

     She was born in rural Alexandria, daughter of the late Roy A. and Mabel A. (Yocum) Eastep. 

     Betty will be lovingly missed by a daughter, Nancy C. Miller of Lititz; four sons: James D. and John M. Jr. of Roaring Spring, William D. of Kempner, TX and Thomas D. of Fairhope, AL; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three brothers: Robert M., William D. and Richard E. Eastep all of Williamsburg.

     She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane D. Lear; and a grandson, Bryan A. Lear. 

     Betty was a 1942 graduate of Morrisons Cove High School, Martinsburg and was employed for 15 years as a housekeeper for the Homewood Retirement Center, Martinsburg.  She was a member of St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church, Martinsburg, and also regularly attended services at the Homewood chapel.

    She loved sewing quilts, painting with water colors, playing bingo and working on jigsaw and crossword puzzles.  Betty was an avid gardener during her lifetime; she truly loved the beauty of nature that God has provided for us.

     Friends will be received from 1-3pm, Monday, October 28, 2019 at Bice Memorial Chapel at Homewood at Martinsburg, where a funeral service will follow at 3pm, with Pastor Traci Marriott Bowman and Rev. Jerry McCuller Jr. officiating.  Private interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.

     Memorial contributions in memory of Betty can be given to Homewood at Martinsburg Benevolent Fund, 437 Givler Dr., Martinsburg, PA 16662 or St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 115 E. Penn St., Martinsburg, PA 16662.
