Marian J. Lynn

Marian J. Lynn, 90, a resident of The Village at Morrisons Cove, formerly of Canoe Creek, passed peacefully Tuesday morning, January 26, 2021 at UPMC Altoona.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late George D. and Laura Maude (Bradley) Gorsuch. On April 14, 1956 she married Donald G. Lynn in Altoona. Don preceded her in death by four hours, while staying in the same room at UPMC Altoona. They were by each other’s side till the very end.
Surviving are three children: Cindy J. Fickes (Harold), LouAnn Hileman (N. Alton), and Kirk D. Lynn (Laura); six grandchildren: Brittany L. Miller (Dustin), Cody C. Fickes (Allison), Tyler J. Hileman (Kellie), Kyle D. Hileman (Elizabeth), Taylor E. Lynn, and Makenna K. Lynn; nine great-grandchildren: Bryson Miller, Dylan Miller, Alyson Miller, Harper Fickes, Oakley Fickes, Sadie Hileman, Kennedy Hughes, Haddison Hileman and Hudson Hileman.
Marian was preceded in death by a sister, Jean L. Gorsuch.
She was a 1948 graduate of Altoona Area High School. After graduating, Marian worked for a short time as a secretary for the Altoona School District. With the birth of her first child, Cindy, she began her new career as a full-time stay at home mom.
Marian was a longtime member of Williamsburg Church of the Brethren, where she served with the women’s fellowship, as a deaconess and helped prepare and serve many church dinners.
She was a member of Williamsburg Women’s Civic Club and volunteered as a teacher’s aide at Longer Elementary in Hollidaysburg. Marian loved spending time with her family, traveling with her husband, Don and also enjoyed going out to dinner with family and friends. She was a loving wife, mom and Nena, who always put others before herself.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions a private funeral service will be held at this time, with a celebration of life service to be held at a later date. Private interment will follow at New Canoe Creek Cemetery, rural Hollidaysburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Marian may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org.
