Ruth V. Reighard

     Ruth V. Reighard, 87, Hollidaysburg, formerly of Canoe Creek, passed away Wednesday evening at Maybrook Hills, Altoona.

     She was born in Bedford County, daughter of the late Grace (Kinser) Snyder.  On September 20, 1947 she married Floyd M. Reighard in Bedford and he passed away on March 25, 2016.

     Surviving are three daughters: Donna (Michael) Kirke of Hollidaysburg, Judy Phillips of Bedford and Patti (Jim) Milks of New Enterprise; a son, David (Chris) of Altoona; seven grandchildren: Ron Smith of Pleasanton, Calif, Terri Lear of Williamsburg, Douglas Otto of Altoona, Dr. Timothy Phillips of San Antonio, TX, Christopher Reighard of Blue Knob, Stephen Reighard of Hollidaysburg and Michael Miller of New Enterprise; 11 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; three sisters: June Yingling of Martinsburg, Jean Smith of Johnstown and Dixie Blades of Riddlesburg; and a brother, John Snyder of Honey Brook.

     She was preceded in death by two sons: Roger and Rickey Reighard; two son-in-laws: David Drass and James Phillips; and a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Reighard.

     Ruth was a 1947 graduate of Bedford High School.  She was currently a member of Canoe Creek Brethren in Christ Church and for many years was a member of Clover Creek Church of the Brethren, rural Martinsburg.

     She was primarily a homemaker who loved and worked hard at raising her family.  Ruth also worked on the custodial staff at Tom’s River Retirement Center in New Jersey and also was employed as the custodial staff supervisor at Harston Hall Nursing Home in Philadelphia.

     Ruth enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and doing activities with her friends at Graystone Court.

     A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family and private inurnment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.  Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg.

     The family prefers memorial contributions in memory of Ruth be given to Canoe Creek Brethren in Christ Church, 356 Beaver Dam Rd., Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
