H. David Snider

H. David Snider, 90, Martinsburg, passed away Tuesday afternoon at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center, Roaring Spring.
He was born in Roaring Spring, a son of the late Dr. Claude K. and Sara E. (Gingrich) Snider. On March 25, 1950, he married Audra C. Replogle in Martinsburg.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 67 years; a son, Ronald W. Snider (Jaci) of Morrison, CO; a daughter, Debra K. Snider of Martinsburg; 2 granddaughters: Jessica J. Murphy, and Krystina T. Snider; a great-grandson, Aiden A. Snider; and 2 siblings: R. Wayne Snider and Alice E. Koontz, both of Winona Lake, IN.
He was preceded in death by a son, Richard A. “Rick” Snider on December 9, 1991.
After graduating from Roaring Spring Junior/Senior High School, David furthered his education, earning a BS in Biology at Juniata College, a BA in Education at John Brown University, and Certifications from the National Radio Institute and RCD Institute.
From 1945 to 1947, he served in the US Army in Italy as a Medical X-ray Technician.
David worked for All American Airways (later known at US Airways), starting in 1951 in Martinsburg. In 1971, he moved to the Pittsburgh division and retired from there in 1989, following 38 years of service.
He was a member of Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church, where he served faithfully for many years as a head trustee, was a former deacon, and attended the T.K. Sunday school class.
David assisted the Civil Air Patrol during the 1940’s, and was a 15-year volunteer for Meals on Wheels. He loved science and electronics, selling and servicing radios and TVs during the 1960’s. David enjoyed travel as well, visiting all lower 48 states.
Friends will be received from 12:30 until the 2 pm funeral service, Friday, February 9, 2018, at Bice Chapel at Homewood at Martinsburg, Pastors James S. Laird and J. Brant Leidy officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Blair County Veteran’s Honor Guard at Bice Chapel and a private interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
The family prefers memorial contributions be given to Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church, 215 S. Mulberry St., Martinsburg, PA 16662.
